Pivot table field list won't show despite being selected

Question

I'm unable to view the field list for a new or existing pivot table. I can toggle the Field List button on the ribbon on/off, however it never actually appears.

Does this issue occur with all workbooks?

If yes:

• I suggest you run excel /safe command in Run dialog (Win+R) to run Excel in Safe Mode, and then open the workbook to check this issue. This action will troubelshoot the COM-Addins.
• Please also try to select one cell of Pivot Table, right-click it, then choose 'Show Field List' for a test.
• In addition, if an external monitor is connected, please check whether the Field list is displayed to the expansion screen.
• • If nothings helps, I suggest you close Excel, go to C:\Users*<user account name>*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel, backup Excel15.xlb first, and then delete it. Re-opne Excel to have a check. (Excel would recreate this file at the next time. But you would lose any customized settings you have made for Excel.)

But if only specific workbooks have this issue:

• It's recommended to right click the sheet name on tabs at the bottom, click 'Move or Copy', tick the box of 'Create a copy' and choose a new workbook to make a copy.
• Open these workbooks on other machine.
