Signing up using personal email asking company auth

I just signed up for Azure using my personal email. During that time it did not ask me for auth. While I was trying to sign in, the website asked was to enter the code seen in my old company authenticator app. I resigned from the company 1 year ago and I do not have access to that authenticator. I have no idea how these two are linked.
