Here you will find how to cancel your subscription and then delete it, and then remove your credit card from the account. While the action doesn't delete the account, it renders it inoperable. You can go a step further and also delete the associated Microsoft account if it's not being used for any other purpose.

@saritha bangaru Thank you for your post!

I understand that you're trying to de-activate your account and would like help figuring out the process. Adding onto what was shared by Alberto, I'll also share the steps on how to de-active/ close a work or school account in an unmanaged Azure AD organization if you need these as well.

How do I delete my Azure Account? I need to remove my account including all my personal information. I already canceled my active (Free Trial) subscriptions. I don't have any active subscriptions, and would like to totally delete my account.

    • If you have an Azure Active Directory account via your organization, the Azure AD administrator could delete the account. After that, your services are disabled. That means your virtual machines are deallocated, temporary IP addresses are freed, and storage is read-only. In summary, once you cancel, billing is stopped immediately.
    • If you don't have an Azure AD account via your organization, you can cancel then delete your Azure subscriptions, and then remove your credit card from the account. While the action doesn't delete the account, it renders it inoperable. You can go a step further and also delete the associated Microsoft account if it's not being used for any other purpose.

    Close your account:

Note: Make sure you are a user of an unmanaged Azure AD organization. You can't close your account if you belong to a managed organization. If you belong to a managed organization and want to close your account, you must contact your administrator.

To close an unmanaged work or school account, follow these steps:

    1. Sign in to close your account, using the account that you want to close.
    2. On My data requests, select Close account. User's image
    3. Review the confirmation message and then select Yes. User's image

    I hope this helps!
