To whom it may concern,
I have a few questions regarding the MS Azure OpenAI service and its data privacy policies. I came across the following webpage:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/legal/cognitive-services/openai/data-privacy
Based on the information provided there, it appears that all customer data and modeling jobs are processed within the MS infrastructure, ensuring that no data are sent to OpenAI's server. This is in contrast to general users who access the OpenAI API service on their local computers, as their data would be sent to OpenAI's server to use the model.
With this in mind, I have a few questions:
(1) Have all of OpenAI's GPT models been integrated into the MS Azure infrastructure?
(2) If the answer to question 1 is affirmative, could you please explain how updates from OpenAI's models are synchronized with those in the MS Azure infrastructure?
(3) In cases where a company's data is confidential and security is paramount, would you recommend using the MS Azure OpenAI service over directly accessing OpenAI's API service?
I appreciate your assistance and look forward to your response.
Best,
Soyeon

@Soyeon Cha Azure OpenAI currently only supports the models that are mentioned on this page. Some of the models are in preview and you might need to submit an additional form to get access to them. Azure OpenAI is constantly adding newer models from OpenAI's catalog, you can follow the updates of Azure OpenAI through this page.

All models available under Azure OpenAI are the same as OpenAI with the added advantage of Microsoft Azure security capabilities which enables easier integration of the service with other Azure services. Please see the FAQ which also answers this question about models that are currently available under Azure OpenAI.

One of the primary reasons Azure OpenAI is recommended is that Azure OpenAI doesn't use customer data to retrain models. As mentioned in the page referenced in your post the controls available to the customer to control the usage of their data is one of the driving factors to use Azure OpenAI over OpenAI.

    I hope this helps!!
