What is the difference between video and voice call in Azure Communication Services apart from just video session?

I am trying to implement Azure Communication Services in my application. However, I am a bit confused between voice and video call. What is the difference between both of them apart from the visual communication? We can turn off the video and would it be the same as voice call then or are there any other differences?

Azure Communication Services supports both voice and video call. The main difference between the two is that video calls allow for visual communication in addition to audio communication. However, you are correct that you can turn off the video during a video call and it would essentially become a voice call.

Apart from the visual communication, there are some other differences between voice and video calls. For example, video calls require more bandwidth than voice calls, which can affect call quality if the network connection is poor.

Thanks for the reply , however, how bandwidth would be different in this case: when we turn off the video in video call. I mean if we turn off the video, would it be taking the same bandwidth?

Sure, got your point, My sincere apologize for inconvenience with this issue, upon further investigation and consultation its cleared that turning off video will change the bandwidth.

And to clarify fundamentally there is no difference between video and voice calling. It’s the same call that’s happening, you can transit video data or audio data or both in the call.
