Network Home Folder to OneDrive Migration

Hello,

Seeking advice.

My organization would like to migrate our employee's on-prem "Home" folder to OneDrive. We are planning on using the SPMT to accomplish this. Once the migration is complete...we plan on disabling the Home folder & strictly utilize OneDrive.

What do you all think the order of operation should be?

  • Configure OneDrive GPO to silently log in user (some of our user's are seniors/old school). =)
  • Configure folder redirection to OneDrive
  • Configure SPMT to migrate on-prem "Home" folder to OneDrive
  • Disable access to on-prem "Home" folder

Any feedback/advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Joe

Hi,

In my opinion, you should use Migration Tool to migrate all files and folders before resetting some policies on OneDrive. Because some policy settings are successful, I don't know if there will be some permission issues that cause the migration to fail.

If conditions permit, it is recommended that you can find a testing machine for a simple test.
