Unable to edit subject heading on emails, Microsoft 365

I always used to change the subject headings of my emails but since changing to Microsoft business 365 a few weeks ago and reloading apps etc, I am now unable to. I have been on the Microsoft forums and done the things suggested (make sure email is open in pop out window, make sure subject header isn't collapsed) but to no avail. How do I change the subject heading please?

    Hi @Carrie Elliott ,

According to my test on my Outlook365, it works, you can refer to my steps to check.

    1. Double-click the message to open it.
    2. Click anywhere inside the subject line. Once you see a blinking cursor, press CTRL+A to select the entire subject line. 1
    3. Type your new subject.
    4. Click the Save icon in the top left corner of the message window, then close the message.
    5. Your new subject will show up in the Reading Pane, but the message list will still show the original conversation topic. Because Outlook shows you messages grouped by Conversation. 2
    6. In order to see the newly changed subject line in your message list, you will need to uncheck the Show as Conversation. 4

    Hi @Carrie Elliott ,

Thanks for your reply and let me know if you are having this problem in the new version of Outlook.

Yes, currently editing emails is not supported in the new outlook, the new Outlook is not yet complete, and some options may not be available or work as expected. You can switch back to the classic Outlook at any time by clicking the toggle button in the top right corner of the window.

I have submitted your feedback on the dedicated portal via the link below:

Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. With requirements like this increase, the problem may well be released in the future.
