Why am I getting signed out due to inactivity while I'm actively working on a word document?

As I'm working in a word document, I get a warning that my session will expire due to inactivity. Often the warning pops up even while I am typing in the document. When I click the button to stay logged in, the document refreshes and scrolls to the beginning. I have to re-enable track changes and scroll back down to where I was working to continue. How can I disable this awful feature?

    Hi Paul,

Please go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts > Accounts.

Select the account that you're using on your apps and please make sure that it is set to 'Microsoft apps can sign me in'. If it is already set, try to remove the email then restart your computer.

If the issue persists, we can try the troubleshooting listed in the below mentioned thread.

    Please update with your findings!

    Sincerely,
