Is it possible to use Win 11 key for win 10

Hello I wanted to install win 10 for the sake of some old softwares but the shop didnt have a win 10 license so i bought a win 11, is there anyway i can activiate win 10 using that win 11 key, thanks. I have see people in forum seems to have done it but I dont want to reinstall the whole thing. It's a new pc but not OEM version, its usb.

Hello Danny,

You can in fact use a Windows 11 key to activate Windows 10 as long as it is the same type (for example: windows 10 home you need to use a windows 11 home key).
I bought a new computer and wanted to use windows 10, and since the keys weren't available anymore I tried

using a win11 key and completely worked.

I don't completely recomend it as in the future may be blocked, but if someone really needs to use it and aren't scared of "loosing" the key money go ahead and do it so.

It is not possible to activate Windows 10 using a Windows 11 key. However, if you have a retail version of Windows 11, youcan use the product key to perform a clean installation of Windows 10 and activate it with the same key. You would need to create a bootable USB drive with the Windows 10 installation media and perform a clean install of Windows 10. Duringcan try upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 without losing your files and programs. To do this, follow these steps:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates".

If your PC is compatible, you should see an option to upgrade to Windows 11. Click on "Download and install".

The upgrade process will begin, and your PC will restart several times during the process.

After the upgrade is complete, you should be able to activate Windows 11 with the license key you purchased.

Note that upgrading to Windows 11 may not be possible on all PCs, especially older ones that do not meet the minimum system requirements. Also, upgrading may cause some programs or devices to stop working. It's always a good idea to back up your important files before making any major changes to your PC.

Thank you all for your answers, so its not really possible to do without upgrading to 11 then downgrading again. Its a bit tedious then, ms should provide a way to do it rather than forcing everyone to win 11, which has no difference to most people except another money grab for ms

Thank you, so you're saying that if I have a windows 11 laptop and I use the media creation tool from Microsfot, and perform a clean installation of windows 10, it'll be activated and I could continue working with my machine running on windoiws 10?

Sir, just to clarify, if I purchase a Windows 11 license (retail), clean-install and activate Windows 11 on a computer and then try clean-installing Windows 10 using the same product key that came with the retail Windows 11, will it work out?
