Hey there,

I am creating a diagram with columns and would like to know how to insert a chart break in the Y axis? I am using Excel 2021.

Would be happy to hearing back from you!

Cheers

    Hi,

Here's how you can do it-

    1. Choose the data range that will be displayed in your column chart. Select the "Column" chart type from the "Charts" group on the "Insert" tab of the Excel ribbon. Choose the column chart subtype you want.
    2. To select the Y-axis of the graph, click on it. The selection handles should be visible all around the axis.
    3. In the context menu, select "Format Axis" after a right-click on the Y-axis. The Format Axis pane will then appear on the right side of the Excel window.
    4. Navigate to the "Axis Options" section of the Format Axis pane. You must scroll down to the "Breaks" option.
    5. To enable the chart break on the Y-axis, select the "Break axis" checkbox.
    6. Click "Close" in the Format Axis pane to apply the changes to your chart. The Y-axis should now have a visible break.

    Best Regards.
