This seems like it should be so easy but I cannot for the life of me achieve it. I need to select a single cell in a Word Table and change its Background color. Can you tell me how this is done? I've seen posts like "wait until the pointer turns into a black arrow" but that never happens - at least not on my machine. Thanks.

Shading a cell in Word Table.

    User's image

    1.       Click on the cell that requires shading.

    2.       From the ‘Home’ menu, select “shading’ and the desired colour.

If this is Word for Windows, you can click at the very left of the cell contents and use Shift + Right arrow until the whole cell becomes selected:

Then click the arrow on the border button in the Paragraph group on the Home tab and click Borders and Shading. Go to the Shading tab and choose the desired options. Make sure that "Apply to" is set to "Cell."
