I have tested this new feature, but unfortunatelly with my experience it only works if you really activate Pre-Provision installation with 5 x WIN key hits. If you install computer with Autopilo entering credetials at the start, you will get less applications, which is very bad. Is it really by design, or did MS forgot about User Driven Autopilot?

So in my case, I have 4 apps listed at "Block device use until required apps are installed" and "Only fail selected apps in technician phase" enabled. Over-all I have 9 apps assigned to All Devices. With this config, I get 9 apps installed during ESP if Pre-provision is used. But I get only 4 apps installed in ESP if User Driven is used (not pre-provision).

In our circumstances, we can't use this feature unfortunatelly.

@Pavel Yannara Mirochnitchenko, Thanks for the reply. Yes, "Only fail selected apps in technician phase" is only available in the Pre-Provision mode of Autopilot, From your description, I know there are 4 apps added to "Block device use until required apps are installed". For user driver, only 4 apps are added. Could you confirm if the 4 apps are the ones in the blocking apps list? For other apps, you can check if apps are triggered to install during Autopilot after collecting Autopilot MDM logs.

To look into the logs, I suggest open case to troubleshoot.

    Thanks for your understanding.

I talked directly to Microsoft developer few days ago, this is by design. My idea is that you could maximize the success also with User-Driven (not pre-provisioned) scenario, where non-critical apps would be installed if they will, but no failure would occure. MS developer got my point, they will think about it.

I read the article and in the first section it mentions the new process will allow ALL apps to install when doing pre-provisioning using the new "Only fail selected apps in technician phase" option. This in turn allows all apps to install but only fail when the required apps have an error. Other non-required apps will fail and reattempt to deploy when the user logs in.

To help customers achieve this, we’ll be implementing an option to attempt the installation of all required apps assigned to a device during technician phase. In case of app installation failure, the Enrollment Status Page (ESP) will continue except for those apps specified in the ESP profile.

My understanding was that User-driven was supposed to use the Required apps to allow them access to the device before everything was installed. It will be less apps because you required less apps. I guess before you could allow pre-provision with the required apps and let the user complete the rest, and that can still be done by not using the new option. The new options is just to allow all apps to be installed by tech, otherwise don't use it and you can keep doing it how you were beforehand. It will fail with the required apps either way, just it won't attempt installing all apps during pre-provisioning.
