Hello, I was wondering if visual studio 2022 supports .Net9 which will be released in November next year.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Currently, Visual Studio 2022 doesn’t support .NET 9 even .NET 8, but in the future, probably, it will.

It is a little early to confirm this, as .NET 9 will be released in next year, there’s no 100% sure answer. Is there any particular reason why you need to confirm this?

I am using Visual Studio 2019 Professional at work. If Visual Studio 2022 supports .Net 9, I would like to purchase Visual Studio 2022 Professional.

This is to view and subscribe to future supported versions.

If .Net9 is not supported, I will resubscribe to Visual Studio 2019.

Thanks for the clarification.

I get it.

Even if VS 2022 will support .NET 9, you need to wait for one more year. But as VS 2019 only supports up to .NET 5(VS 16.8 or later, and .NET 5 is end of support), and .NET 6, .NET 7 will end of support on November 12, 2024 and May 14, 2024, if you want to develop for using .NET, and prepare to subscribe VS these days, you may try a flexible subscription, maybe subscribe for one year.

If you can wait for some time or prepare to subscribe/resubscribe in the future, then you may get more updated information about the support plans in the future.

Anyway, I think using Visual Studio 2022 will be a better choice currently, still, this depends on you.
