How do I delete a work account from the authenticator?

Hi, I am trying to remove a work account from my android. It asks me to log in and I don't no longer work for the company. How do I remove the account from my phone? Thank you. 😊

My account is greyed out. When I tap on it nothing happens. I can't figure out how to delete it so I can re-enable it.

This account is still there, I can't remove it either for the company I'm no longer associated with. I am already syncing properly to my personal account.

After following the steps as described here, the account is still visible in the overview. The deleted account is visible but greyed out and you cannot do anything to remove this account from the overview.

Android v13: Settings > Accounts and backups > Manage accounts > on the list remove the work account.
Note: It will not remove immediately it will need to refresh after a while.

@ Jose Martinez, I do need to define "a while" as what I am experiencing is in Samsung/Settings > Accounts and backups > Manage accounts > the work account leaves. Returning to MS Authenticator though the account repopulates grey. Even after 45 minutes and cold booting the phone.

@SolidR0ck, Thanks for posting in Q&A. To remove a work account from your android device, you can follow these steps:

Go to Settings on your android device.

Tap on "Accounts" or "Users & Accounts" depending on your device. (If you enrolled with Android Enterprise work profile, you can go to Settings-> Work profile->Accounts)

Tap on the work account you want to remove.

Tap on "Remove Account" or "Delete Account", depending on your device.

Confirm the removal of the account when prompted.

Thanks for that information. I was able to use that. However, when I open the authenticator it still shows the work account.

please advice on how to remove it from the authenticator.

NEVERMIND... I dug into the authenticator and found out how to remove it.

In case anyone needs it here are the steps I used:

open the authenticator

click on the account you want to remove

On this page, there is a settings icon on the top right corner - click on that

click on remove account

Cheryl W - to delete greyed out account from MS Authenticator you should delete this account from Android - Settings - Accounts. It is appeared there.

So if I don't see a Remove or Delete option anywhere on my app, is that because I'm stuck in the past on Android 10?

None of this resembles what I am seeing in my app. There is no settings icon on the account. There is no accounts option under general settings. None of these instructions are an option based on what I am seeing.

If you have an android mobile, follow the instructions below:

Open your mobiles' Settings, then tap on Users & accounts.

Scroll down and look for Microsoft old account(s) you want to remove or Work account and tap on it.

Once you found the required account, tap on it and select More or tap on 2 dots : (depends on the android version) in the upper right corner of your screen.

Select Remove account. You may need to repeat it twice or thrice.

Once account has removed, close the Microsoft Authenticator app if already opened.

Now tap and hold on Microsoft Authenticator app, and select App info.

Select Storage usage > Under Cache, tap on Clear cache.

Open Microsoft Authenticator app, and old account(s) should not appear now.

There is no "Users and accounts" option on my app. Tapping on the account just takes me to a sign-in page with no settings option. It's a new phone and the app is updated.

I tried to delete the accounts many times, I tried do clean the cache many times, and It didn't work.

I have 03 old accounts stuck inside my authenticator. Will I have to reinstall it, and lost the other good accounts?

Settings > Passwords, passkeys & autofill > (scroll down to the account you want to remove and tap on it) > Remove account
