A staff member wants to remove all Personally identifiable information from Excel Spreadsheet before sending it externally to customers. We want to ensure that no personal identifiable information can be extracted from the file.

Does running Document Inspector to clear personal information definitely remove all personal data? We are following the Document Inspector steps in the URL below. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/remove-hidden-data-and-personal-information-by-inspecting-documents-presentations-or-workbooks-356b7b5d-77af-44fe-a07f-9aa4d085966f

We would like to confirm this will remove all personal data before publishing / sending the file to customers. Can you confirm? Thanks.

    Hi,

Yes, this is the way remove personal information from Office files.

In the Document Properties and Personal Information section, select Remove All to remove the document and author properties associated with that file. Select Remove All next to other results if you wish to remove other information the Document Inspector discovers.

    Hope the information is helpful.
