Search function Outlook for Mac does not search in locally stored e-mails

Dear,

Search function Outlook for Mac does not search in locally stored e-mails, only in the "online" 365 Outlook mailbox.

I have read already webpages about solutions but I did not find a solution yet after trying everything.

How can I fix this?

Hi @Stijn Desmet ,

What detailed version of outlook are you using? Make sure you have the latest version of macOS and Outlook for Mac installed on your device. You can also check for updates in Outlook for Mac by going to Help > Check for Updates.

To perform a comprehensive search of all Outlook files (regardless of folder or view), choose All Items.

I am using Outlook for Mac version 16.75.2 (23072301) in Dutch. I checked and it is the last version. I both updated MacOS and Outlook before and is now latest version. OSMac Ventura 13.4.1(c). I cannot see in my version the "search" tab or the"all items" button.

What can I do?

Can you provide a screenshot?

Make sure your Outlook profile is not listed under Spotlight’s Privacy tab. This can prevent Outlook from indexing your local emails. To do this, open the Apple menu, select System Preferences, and then choose Spotlight. Click on the Privacy tab and see if your Outlook profile folder is there. If it is, drag it out of the list and close the window. This will allow Spotlight to re-index your folder.

Hi, there is no folder in the Privacy tab of Spotlight, so this is not the problem. Can I send the screenshot to your e-mail address as I prefer not to put it publicly? To which e-mail address can I send it

Here are other possible reasons and solutions that you can try:

Check if your Profile name contains special characters such as the slash mark (/).

If the Outlook database is corrupted or damaged, it may affect the search function and cause errors or incomplete results. To fix this, you need to rebuild the Outlook database manually using Terminal. You can follow these steps in this article: Troubleshooting Outlook search issues
