SECURITY RISK EXCEL ONE DRIVE SHAREPOINT

My co-worker shared an excel document with me via his personal One Drive. This excel document contains macros, because it has a formula programmed specifically for our work.

When sharing it via Sharepoint, and opening it with Excel Online, that specific formula does not work (#NAME?). When I open it through the excel desktop app, I get a message: "SECURITY RISK Microsoft has blocked macros from running because the source of the file is untrusted".

I tried to follow the instructions on https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/a-potentially-dangerous-macro-has-been-blocked-0952faa0-37e7-4316-b61d-5b5ed6024216.

Obviously it works when I save the file to my computer and perform the "Unblock a single file" steps.

However, that is not what I require. I need the file to stay in the cloud so it can be updated and edited along with my co-worker and I can't find a way to do that.

I am not an expert in security issues so I hope you can guide me to solve this problem. Thanks

This is the default behavior and Macro is not enable this way.

You may try run the OneDrive desktop app and sync your files and then open the Excel file from there and see if that works as expected.

    Hi,

I suggest you refer to this support article:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/differences-between-using-a-document-in-the-browser-and-in-word-3e863ce3-e82c-4211-8f97-5b33c36c55f8

    As the article said:

In my opinion you can connect to OneDrive service in Office application and then open it from OneDrive location:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-to-add-onedrive-as-a-service-3ae78a39-c0de-4c86-8abc-ad519b6de44e

If you have any feedback or suggestion about this behavior, you can try to give a feedback to Microsoft about your requirement:

Microsoft values your opinion. Your feedback goes directly to our engineers and helps us shape the future of Microsoft products and services for all our users.
