So, we're getting this issue when we're saving an excel sheet where it says it's being used by someone else, but it isn't. if we were to close all other excel sheets open on the device, and re-open it, it's fine. but we lose all the work that was done since the last save.

anyone know what's going on?

    Hi,

Where did you save the Workbook?

Did this problem appear for all users or specific user?

In Excel open a Workbook: TEST.xlsx it will create a temporary lock file automatically (Microsoft calls it an "owner file"): ~$TEST.xlsx, if you don't have delete permission for the folder you will not delete the lock temporary file. This is an hidden file, try to unhide files and check if you can find the temporary file there, delete it manually.

Make sure the user have delete permission for accessing the folder.

    Hi,

In such cases, here are some steps you can try-

    1. You can also attempt to unlock any potential locks by opening the file in Read-Only mode and saving it under a different name.
    2. Make sure the file location is accessible and that your network connection is steady. You could consider about copying the file to a local drive and working on it from there if the problem continues.
    3. In order to save versions of the file or recover data, AutoSave or AutoRecover features that are enabled may temporarily lock the file. By selecting "File" > "Options" > "Save" and changing the AutoSave and AutoRecover settings, you can try turning off these features.
    4. Try disabling any add-ins that might be active.
    5. You can try temporarily disabling your anti-virus software.

    Best Regards.
