Hi Peter,

it depends on what do you mean for "deleted":

• in case you have just moved the item in your "deleted items" mail folder, but you haven't emptied it in the last year (or however, after have deleted this message), I think that you can recover this message with the right research filters.
• in case you have moved the item in your "deleted items" mail folder, but in the last year - and after this simple delete - you've even emptied the same, it's not possible: you have to consider that his recycle bin allows to recover items within the next 30 days (and not beyond) as default policy.

Unfortunately, according to the web search results, it is not possible to recover an email that has been deleted from your Hotmail account for more than 30 days. Hotmail only keeps your deleted emails in the Deleted Items folder for 30 days, and then they are permanently removed from the server. Even if you use the Recover Deleted Items from Server option, you can only restore the emails that have been deleted in the last 14 to 30 days.

Therefore, unless you have a backup of your email in another device or service, such as a computer, a phone, or a cloud storage, there is no way to retrieve your deleted email from Hotmail after a year.
