In order to vectorize documents hosted in SharePoint, you can use Azure cognitive Search SharePoint indexer. The SharePoint indexer is a crawler that extracts searchable data and metadata from a data source. It will connect to your SharePoint site and index documents from one or more document libraries.
Once the indexer is setup then you can use this cognitive search service in vector search of your Azure Open AI service. However, please note that the SharePoint indexer is currently in preview mode and not recommended for production use.

Hi Saurabh: One more input needed, If the share point site doesn't have documents but a page with different clickable sections that open a word document within the site - what would be the way to vectorise. Background: I would like to create a chat interface where users can start asking questions and the app will respond with the answer ( which in turn would have used embeddings). Your inputs will be really helpful

Yes Saurabh. I don't have a solution yet for vectoring the content/document in the site. In the sample screenshot below: The sharepoint site has Blog Posts for this month. I am building a copilot that will allow me to query the topics in various sections in the site or Documents embedded in the site ( in the image below I could have embedded a word document about a reference architecture for eg.).
Will the azure cognitive share point indexer help vectoring the above content?
@Jayashree Arunkumar (iDEAS-Cloud Transformation) I don't think SharePoint indexer is capable of checking Sharepoint postings. However, I believe the referenced documents on the sharepoint site are available under the document's library as well? In that case, you can use the SharePoint indexer as mentioned in my previous comments. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks
Hi Saurabh, No the documents are not available in document's library but they are embedded in the site. Upon clicking a link in the share point site - the document opens within. Any solution to vectorise this type of embedded documents?

sorry for the delay on this one. I have checked on this internally and unfortunately SharePoint is not yet supported by Azure OpenAI on Your Data yet and is on our roadmap. please stay tuned for latest updates on the same.

Hi Saurabh - Could you check if Microsoft copilot offering now solves this , where we could have a copilot to build a chatbot that will leverage the RAG to process the documents in SharePoint?
