I am using i3 4150, 4gb ram, 1tb hdd. Windows update shows that My pc is upgradeable to 20H2. Currently I am running 1909 64 bit. Time of update all are fine but when start install works still fine till 90% then suddenly it stop, staying that you're up to date, no restart showing.

As far as I know 20H2 hasn't officially released so I'd suggest asking for help in dedicated insiders forum here.

    Hello all,

I also have an ASUS, but it does not have Conexant drivers installed as far as I can tell, yet I'm having the same problem. For the past three days I tried everything:

    • The windows recovery tools (stuck in the same spot at 90%).
    • Dism.exe and sfc scans.
    • Attempting to install a brand new copy of windows via usb installation media (which eventually failed to finish).
    • Performing the windows recovery process with a full format of my personal files (again--to my relief--failed to complete).
    • Uninstalling every non-essential application and file the trying again.
    • Safe-mode
    • Direct online download of the patch (stuck in the same spot at 90%).

This problem prevented me from accessing my resume on the critical hours before a very important job interview.

My conclusion: As of now I have started dual booting Ubuntu 20.04. Virtually nothing that I use requires windows compatibility, and Linux is more secure, robust and suited to developers like me. I'm new to Linux and certainly nervous to make the switch, but it'll be a very valuable skill to develop, and I'll still have access to windows if I absolutely need to use something like Microsoft Office.

Then again there's always OnlyOffice which seems to be excellent at opening MS office file formats like .docx and .xlsx, is 100% free for personal use and fully open sourced. At this point, if all pans out I may just leave windows and never look back.

Why continue to live in fear of the dreaded Windows patch?

    -DG
