how to remove Azure directory when lost access to it?

Some time ago I created test Azure AD B2C account+directory of which I was an admin and a sole user. I left it unattended for long time. Now after logging to Azure portal, when I click "Switch directory" button in "Portal settings | Directories + subscriptions" I cannot switch to the mentioned directory. I get the usual MFA prompt with the code to enter in the Ms Authenticator, but I have no connection to this directory in the current Ms Authenticator App.

For the same reason I cannot remove this directory from "manage Tenants" in the Azure Entra ID. On the deletion I am asked to use Authenticator code (which seems to be only MFA option) - which doesn't work for me.

As a result I am left with the Azure directory I cannot remove nor log in to.

How to remove the Azure Directory if I lost access to it, or how to regain access?

    @Anonymous

    Thank you for posting question in Microsoft Q&A.

    To delete and clean up the B2C tenant you need to have access to B2C tenant. Without access to B2C tenant you cannot delete and clean up resources.

    If you are only admin for your B2C tenant then you can follow below instructions to contact Microsoft data protection team.

    If you are the only global admin on the account and are blocked entirely, you can reach out to the Azure Data Protection team to restore access. 866-807-5850

    Also, for the future, you can create an emergency access account (break glass) in Azure AD. This account will help prevent being accidentally locked out of your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) organization because you can't sign in for any reason.
