OneNote making MacBook lag and glitch

Over the past week or so my OneNote app on my MacBook has been incredibly slow and lagging. Whenever the application is open it makes the rest of my applications and the computer overall slow, glitchy and the laptop overheats. I have the app with the same account on my iPad and it has no issues. I have deleted and redownloaded the app on my MacBook and that didn’t make a difference. I emailed myself a link to a notebook and opened it with a browser and that works, so I know it is something with the app. I also use Word and PowerPoint and those work fine. I have to use OneNote everyday so this has been incredibly frustrating for me, and confusing since the problem seemed to come out of nowhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which version of OneNote you are using? Please check if there is any updated one.

Open Finder, click on the Go menu, press the Option key, and select Library. Then open the Containers folder, double-click on the com.microsoft.onenote.mac folder, and delete Container.plist.

    Disable Automatic Syncing.
