hi all

we are testing the new teams client in our environment at the moment. the azure-teams-policy let the user to decide, when to switch to the new client.

but in some cases we have the problem, that the user will switch to the new client with the toggle button, but the download / update to the new client fails somehow. and the toggle switch is disabled after the failed update:

disabled-teams-update

and the toggle switch stays greyed out. there is no possiblity to "rearm" the switch.

(restarting the client or clearing the cache is not helping either)

does anyone facing similar problems?

    Hi @Sandro D'Incà

It's possible that the MSIX package installation could be blocked by registry keys set by GPO policy/third party tool. For a complete list of registry keys: How Group Policy works with packaged apps - MSIX

The registry keys that could block new Teams MSIX package installation are:

    • BlockNonAdminUserInstall
    • AllowAllTrustedApps
    • AllowDevelopmentWithoutDevLicense

These registry keys can be found at one of these locations:

    • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModelUnlock
    • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Appx

For more details about its error message troubleshooting, you could learn it from:

    final status-update:

we had opened a microsoft case and based on the following article we could sucessfully solve the problem:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/teams-administration/clear-teams-cache

clearing the complete teams-appdata-folder solved the problem.

based on other microsoft-sources, we only cleared several specific folders in the appdata-folder, but not all folders because deleting all of it will reset many specific custom teams-settings of the user (for example custom backgrounds etc.).

and another interesting statement from the microsoft support: "New Teams must be fully developed, there is no other workaround available at the moment".

I have the same issue. I have been trying to install new teams for months now. Everytime I click the slider over it shows the following message in screen shot. I tried uninstalling the new teams to let it download again and the same message occurs. I have followed the troubleshooting here as well: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/new-teams-troubleshooting-installation

    User's image

If I try to run the New Teams exe as administrator I get the following error:

    User's image

I just saw where Microsoft is switching over fully to Teams in March. I am unable to get the new version working. I use this program as my primary communication tool for business phone calls. What am I to do in this situation?
