Excel pivot table

Question

I am using Excel 2021. I can’t seem to get my pivot table to sub total. For instance I have:

date, name, number.

For every name, I would like to see a count of instances. Then in another column I would like to see an average number for that person. I had no problem doing this in the prior version of Excel.

You can select the Value field- Value Field Settings...:

Then you can change the type for the Value Field:
