Microsoft Store for Education and App Deployment in 2024

I've spent some time researching the evolving situation with the Microsoft App Store for Education. Is there a definitive roadmap for app deployment to Windows 11 Intune managed devices in education moving forward?

What is the recommended solution for the following scenarios?

  • Providing students/staff access to curated purchased and free Microsoft App Store apps? Equivalent to the organisation tab in the old Microsoft Store.
  • Providing students/staff an option to self service in-house Win32 apps. Equivalent to Company Portal.
  • Deploying mandatory apps through Intune.

There is a lot of contradictory information online, particularly with the postponement of some changes.

I would appreciate some clarity on this as we move into 2024 and start deploying Windows 11 as standard.

Thank you,

@Karl, Thanks for posting in Q&A. Based on my checking, Microsoft Store for Education is being retired. Currently, we can use Microsoft Store app experience in Intune to add apps.

For Win32 app and mandatory app, based on my checking, it is not available to add in Intune for Education, You can feedback to the following link to see if we can get this in the future:
