Preferred data location attribute

Hello All

We use Okta to sync all our users to O365, as you know Microsoft doesn't allow 3rd party tools to sync custom attributes. I was wondering if there is any other way to sync this attribute to O365.

@JamesTran-MSFT I am still waiting for a resolution, we were not able to resolve this issue. Can someone please provide a solution if they have resolved using okta

We have tested with the O365 Graph API to try to populate that attribute via API calls, but we received the following error message:

Being an object that is synchronized with another directory, this attribute is read-only in Azure. Exactly the same situation as when trying to do it from the Azure management console, from PowerShell, etc.Therefore, Okta workflows (or API calls in general), are not a solution.

@Joel Saripelli Apologies for the delayed response, As you are using Okta to sync attributes, not much support we can offer, however if you have an Azure Subscription, I can enable one time support option for you where you can work with our support team to discuss further on this.

@Joel Saripelli Thank you for reaching out to us, As I understand you are trying to sync custom attributes via Okta sync tool to O365/Azure AD, however Okta sync is not allowing to sync custom attributes.

We dont have expertise to comment on the Okta sync why custom attributes are not syncing to O365/Entra ID, Okta team would be the best to comment on this.

If the custom attributes are less in number to be updated, you can explore this option - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/application-post-extensionproperty?view=graph-rest-1.0&tabs=http of creating attributes manually via Graph explorer for the users or consider moving to Entra Connect/Entra cloud sync.
