Why is OneDrive is auto compressing in Windows Explorer, but not web browser?

A coworker has shared a large (770GB) folder. If I open in Chrome, the file types are correct. However, I need this folder to be a shortcut in my files. Due to the size, I cannot have this folder sync to my computer. However, all the files are now compressed archives, rather than their original filetypes. This changed after a Windows update last week. Anyone know what setting got changed?? Thanks! (note: the folder/drive is not marked to "Compress contents to save disk space")

    Hi,

I suggest you select OneDrive from the Start menu, select Settings- and check if the option Compress Files is checked.

Or select Settings, and then check if the Save space and download files as you use them box option is checked.

Just checking in to see if the information was helpful. Please let us know if you would like further assistance.

I appreciate the try Emi, but this isn't the case. I can't see Settings the way you describe: if I choose OneDrive from the Start Menu, it simply opens the folder. If I check the folder properties, General, Advanced, the compression options are not checked (see image) User's image
