Hello, We have 5 online SharePoint sites. I just set up a new SharePoint site two days ago and was working on permissions to restrict access to subfolders. Today, users are not able to see 3 different sites and I think it could be permission-related. I did make sure all the sites are listed under 'Active teams and groups' in the Admin Center. However, when I go to the site there is a 404 error.
For few of the sites, I am able to see the site if I add '/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx' at the end of the address. However, I do not see the documents in the Document Library.
I am not sure what to do next. Your help is appreciated.

1.When you access a SharePoint site, you first access its home page. 404 error may be caused by home page has been deleted.

(1)Go to https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/testsite/_layouts/15/viewlsts.aspx?view=14 -> Site Pages -> Check whether home page has been deleted. (You need to change the site URL in the link.)

(2)If home page has not been deleted, select the home page, click make home page.

(3)If home page has been deleted, then create a new site page. Select the newly created site page -> Make home page.

2.Use site admin account to access the shared document library, check permissions of documents.

Thank you all for your support. I realized that the issue I encountered on 01/26/24 was actually due to Microsoft. I'm glad to hear you solve the problem and thanks for your sharing. If you have any issue about SharePoint, you are welcome to raise a ticket in this forum.

By the way, since the Microsoft Q&A community has a policy that "The question author cannot accept their own answer. They can only accept answers by others.". So, I would make a brief summary of this thread.
