Hi,

I've lost access to my work account which also happens to be the organization's administrator account.

  • The work account was setup with Microsoft Authenticator but that device was lost and every time I try to login, it asks for a code.
  • I have tried using and resetting the work password using: https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/n/passwordreset/ But it redirects to enter code / authenticator login.
  • I can still access my personal account. How do I recover my work/administator account?

    Hello @MortgageKart

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft QnA Platform. I would like to inform you could restore previous authenticator app settings/accounts from lost device only if you had backed it up either using iCloud backup option for iOS devices or Cloud backup option for Android devices. You can review complete details mentioned on following article: Back up and recover account credentials in the Authenticator app.

Alternatively, if this was only admin account on the tenant and you have lost access to reset authentication method you can reach out to Microsoft Support by creating a support request from Azure Portal from a different account.

I hope this answer helps to resolve your issue.
