Troubleshooting Intune Retire Failure

We are working on setting up IBM MaaS360 to manage our Windows devices. We had previously been testing Intune on a couple machines. I am now trying to remove the devices from Intune so I can enroll them in MaaS360, however something isn't working. I chose "Retire" for both devices which says it will remove all company data and Intune management. It seemed to work, in that the devices are no longer showing in Intune or Entra ID. However, now when I attempt the MaaS360 enrollment process, it says the devices are already managed. I have removed the Company Portal. I have tried resetting one of the devices. I have also tried rejoining Entra ID and disconnecting again on both devices. When I sign into the device that has not been reset, it tells me there's something wrong with my work or school account, but following the link to fix it does nothing. I have found articles saying to look for any remaining management certificates from Intune, and to check the registry for anything remaining of Intune MDM. I have also verified with 'dsregcmd /status' that there is no connection to Azure or MDM. As far as I can tell, there is no trace of Intune on either of these devices. What am I missing?

@Robert Willadsen, Thanks for posting in Q&A. From your description, I know you have cleared registry key on the device. Could you confirm if you remove the registry keys under the following location?

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Enrollments

Also the device in both Azure AD and Intune are both removed, And related certificates are removed Please also ensure the device is not registered to Autopilot,

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/autopilot/add-devices#delete-autopilot-devices

If all of the above information is removed, based on my experience, the device is removed from Intune. If it still shows managed and the reset isn't working, I suggest reinstalling the device OS to make it works.

Hope the above information can help.
