Why does some folders in my email in the new Outlook version show that the messages are unread? I know that I have read all the messages in the folder and yet, the folder will show unread messages. Random folders - not always one specific folder.

  1. Why is this happening?
  2. How can I select all messages in the folder and mark them as read?

    Hi @Sandy Hays ,

What type of account are you using? Try switching back to classic view and see if you still have the problem with unread messages.

Please check email settings: In the new version of Outlook, click "Settings" > "Email" > "Message handling" and check whether the "Mark displayed items as read after 5 seconds" option is enabled. If enabled, uncheck it and select "Mark displayed items as read as soon as they're selected." User's image

If the issue continues, you can try to mark items as read manually:

    1. Select a folder in the folder list.
    2. On the home tab, select Mark all as read. User's image

This is a business account. I will look at my settings and see if this resolves the issue. Thank you so much for your help!
