I am facing a big problem, with my external DNS that could not point to az azure Cloud Service Extended Support. I have an Azure Cloud Service (Extended Support) that hosts 3 web applications, and have a Static public IP Address setup. I have also setup the Public IP DNS Name. On my External DNS service, I have create 3 records (CNAME) with the 3 different names pointing to the Public IP DNS Name of the cloud service. On my Cloud Service, I have the IIS with bindings correctly configured. If I try to access directly with the public ip address or public IP DNS name, I receive a Intern server error 500, which is normal, due to the bindings on IIS. My question is, is this a matter of time to wait or, Am I doing something wrong? Thank you in advance.

I am afraid I do not understand what your end goal here is.
- I see you have 3 sites hosted on your Azure Cloud Service (Extended Support) IIS Server
- This has a static Public IP
- You have an external DNS Provider.
- Here, you have 3 CNAME records pointing to the Public IP's DNS Name.
Now,
- DNS resolution (CNAME) works by changing the user request.
- i.e,.
- "app1.customdomain.com" will resolve to "<userlabel>.<region>.cloudapp.azure.com" first.
- Then the requests will hit the Cloud service with the host <userlabel>.<region>.cloudapp.azure.com only
- This means, if you have a IIS bindings for the FQDN "app1.customdomain.com" - the requests to "<userlabel>.<region>.cloudapp.azure.com" or the IP Address will not work.
- I am not aware of how IIS is configured. Is there any document you are following to set up IIS server in Azure Cloud Service (Extended Support) ?
