I have the same problem. An isolated function app running on .NET 6 worked fine. After upgrading to .NET 8, I started seeing a lot of these errors in the log:

Function '{functionName}', Invocation id '{invocationId}': An exception was thrown by the invocation.

This seems to be logged before even reaching my code. Here's the stack trace:

I think this is caused by a problem with making multiple simultaneous requests. I can re-create this locally by making two simultaneous requests to the same function. Both function requests seem to return a result. But when inspecting the log, I see one of the requests triggering the exception above.

Adding this in my host.json file worked fixed this issue for me:

I can see how those settings would make the error go away since it seems to be related to concurrency. Do you have any experience with any downsides or anything else doing this? It seems wrong to only allow one request at a time in a web API.

I had a similar problem when installing some NuGet packages to manage Azure blobs. I suggest you check if the project ID in the .sln file has changed. If it has, reset it to the original value.

I do have a dependency on Azure.Storage.Blobs in my case. Could that cause this?

@Thomas Ardal : Sorry, not really. I was just migrating our azure functions to .NET isolated worker. Followed this document: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-functions/migrate-dotnet-to-isolated-model?tabs=net8#prepare-for-migration I also removed the functionTimeout from my host.json file because it was overriding the default of 5 minutes and maybe not supported for the plan we are using. So, I guess I was just lucky that it suddenly worked fine. Make sure you have updated all your packages to the latest version and that you don't use any deprecated versions. Hope you find the solution soon. Good luck.
