How to troubleshoot issues while creating Data Lake storage Gen2 account name for Azure Synapse workspace?

Hello there,

I am new to Azure and currently using trial version and trying to create a new Azure Synapse workspace but getting an error while creating a new account name for Data Lake storage Gen2. I am seeing the error message "There was an error trying to validate storage account name. Please try again." I have attached a screenshot of the error message for reference. Can someone please help me resolve this issue? Thank you.

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum, thank you for posting your query here!

    Please check if you have Registered 'Microsoft. Storage' in the resource providers menu in the Azure subscription. Select the item and click on 'register' on the top of the page. 274885-image.png

    To register for Microsoft. Storage subscription, please follow the steps below:

    1. Go to the Azure portal and sign in to your account.
    2. Click on Subscriptions from the left-hand menu.
    3. Select the subscription you want to register for.
    4. Click on Resource providers from the left-hand menu.
    5. Search for Microsoft.Storage and click on it.
    6. Click on Register to register [Select the item and click on 'register' on the top of the page] the resource provider as shown in below image.

    Once registered then try creating the storage account refer - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/create-data-lake-storage-account for detailed guidelines.

    Also please review the Validation errors and check if you are seeing any of these and resolve with the mitigation steps provided in the doc.

    Hi Dinesh,

    The name you entered is already taken. Normally the error message would have said it is already taken, but it appears the portal was having a problem checking the name. It is likely this is a temporary issue.

    Please try a longer, more unique name, such as dineshdatalakegen2 instead.
