Removing device

Hello Community,

I have accidentally joined 8 devices (5 devices limit) and all of them have joined both EntraID and Intune portal so all 8 users are working remotely, we don't wanna affect our system's continuing work but want to delete them from Intune but keep those into EntraID. Thanks

@HOTC, Thanks for posting in Q&A. Based on my testing, you can go to Intune portal, Devices->All Devices, click the device you want to delete, and select "Delete". it will only delete the device in Intune but keep the device in Microsoft Entra.

If I do so before confirmation I'm getting like following "If you delete this device, you will no longer be able to view or manage the device from the Intune portal. The device will no longer be allowed to access your company's corporate resources. Company data may be wiped from the device if the device tries to check-in after it is deleted"

@HOTC, Thanks for your reply. This is a notification to tell the impact when the device is removed from Intune. For example, the app deployed via Intune will be removed. Wi-Fi, VPN and certificate deployed via Intune will be removed.

For company resource, the resource from Intune side will be blocked to access. I think you may wonder the resource in Microsoft Entra will be affect. Based as I know, if no conditional access policy we set to limit the access. It will not affect.

But to avoid affecting on your environment, we suggest choosing one device to test to see if it will affect when you delete the device record in Intune.
