How to backup SQL database in Azure VM from SQL agent?

Hello, we are intending to transfer all SQL database baackups to Azure and have several backups that we need to run manually/on-demand using SQL agent jobs. I have created a backup policy specifically for on-demand backups, and while some online sources recommend PowerShell scripts or JSON, I'm unable to find the right way to get this done. I'm hoping someone here might be able help with this. Grateful for any assistance.

@ShaktiSingh-MSFT appreciate your input. The source you provided is talking about how to configure SQL backups in Azure and how to backup databases on-demand on Azure portal but my question was about the script that i can use to kickoff backups on-demand from SQL agent job.

As I understand, you want to backup SQL database in Azure VM from SQL agent.

It doesn't matter if SQL Server runs on-premise or on a VM in the Cloud; backup scheduled by a SQL Server-Agent job is the same, no difference beside may be the backup destination like BLOB storage.

@Olaf Helper appreciate your input. My question was more about the script itself that i can use to kickoff backups on-demand from SQL agent job. We currently backup to an ANF file shares so it's pretty stright forward but I'm planning on using Azure Backup Center for database backups, I'm looking for a solution to start backups on-demand using a stored procedure and/or SQL agent jobs.

We can use the Powershell Enable-AzRecoveryServicesBackupProtection cmdlet to configure backup for this SQL DB.

Hi @ShaktiSingh-MSFT thanks for additional information. We already have RSV and policies. I just can't run Get-AzRecoveryServicesVault scripts. Here's what I'm getting. Get-AzRecoveryServicesVault : Operation failed.
