@Terry_CWQ Thank you for reaching out to us, As I understand you would like to know whether - Is Azure MFA server same as NPS with Azure ?
The Azure MFA Server and the NPS extension for Azure AD Multi-Factor Authentication are two separate products, although they both provide similar functionality for enabling multi-factor authentication in on-premises environments.
The Azure MFA Server is a standalone product that provides on-premises multi-factor authentication for a variety of scenarios, including VPN, RADIUS, and web applications. As you mentioned, it is being deprecated on September 30, 2024, and we encourage customers to migrate to Azure AD Multi-Factor Authentication.
The NPS extension for Azure AD Multi-Factor Authentication, on the other hand, is an extension for the Network Policy Server (NPS) role in Windows Server that enables you to add cloud-based multi-factor authentication to RADIUS clients. It allows you to use Azure AD as the identity provider for RADIUS-based authentication, and provides a way to secure RADIUS client authentication by deploying either an on-premises based MFA solution or a cloud-based MFA solution.
To answer your question - the NPS extension for Azure AD Multi-Factor Authentication is not being deprecated at this time and continue to be available for the customers.
Let me know if you have any further questions, feel free to post back.
