Wallpaper Configuration Profiles

recently I created a configuration profile to change the desktop photo of all my registered devices, the configuration worked.

However, when I changed it to another photo, the policy did not apply to all devices, even though I asked users to restart the computer.

I even deleted the old photo configuration profile to check if that was it, but it didn't work.

Is there any way to change wallpapers more dynamically? changing it more frequently and making sure that everyone will receive this update?

I did not exclude any groups or devices when creating the policy.

    Hi Samuel,

I have two dedicated blog posts on changing desktop wallpaper via Intune. Please refer to these posts, which will help in answering your query. The second post also talks about updating desktop wallpaper.

If you want to store desktop wallpapers in a public location, then please refer to the below link: https://cloudinfra.net/how-to-set-desktop-and-lock-screen-wallpaper-using-intune/

If you do not want to use a public location for storing the desktop wallpapers, then please refer to the link: https://cloudinfra.net/set-desktop-lock-screen-wallpaper-using-intune-win32-app/

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

With this solution, you can avoid the hassle of creating a new configuration profile for every wallpaper change. By utilizing a dynamic configuration profile that points to an external source for the wallpaper image, you enable seamless updates. This means that updating the image in the external source will automatically reflect on the devices during their next policy update check.

@Samuel Santos, Thanks for posting in Q&A. From your description, it seems you have set device configuration profile to configure wallpaper. Could you confirm if you means set the setting "Desktop background picture URL (Desktop only)"? When you change the photo, some devices are not working. Could you confirm if the new photo is with a new URL?

Based on my experience, when the setting is changed, the new configuration will be applied to the devices. But in your environment, it seems some devices are not updated with the new photo. For the affected device, please go to Settings, Accounts, Access work or school, find the account, click info and sync to see if it can sync successfully.

After that, go to Intune portal to see if the report modification time is updated on Intune portal for the affected device.
