ICS files will not open

My laptop will not open or save an ICS file. I get a message saying that I don't have permissions to open or save this type of file. I only started having this problem about 6 months ago. I can save a calendar request on another computer, then add myself as an attendee and send it back to myself that way. So the problem is not the files, it's something in the settings on the computer that will not allow them to open. This happens in both outlook app as well as the webpage version.

    Hi @Jay Franklin ,

According to my research, the error message “Cannot create file: file name. Right-click the folder that you want to create the file in and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder” typically occurs in Microsoft Outlook when trying to open or preview an attachment.

To resolve it, you may need to delete the files inside the Outlook Temporary folder.

To determine the spots where folders got created, open the Windows registry using regedit.exe and look for the Registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Security

    User's image

As you can see from the screenshot, the OLK temporary folder is located at:

    C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Outlook\DK20OG3S

If you can't find this folder, please click View> Options, unchecked the "Hide Protected Operation System Files" Option.
