Change a Teams Group Permission Set

I have a SharePoint site which the permission on the default group have been changed.

The default permissions:
'My Site Visitors' > 'Read'
'My Site Members' > 'Edit'
'My Site Owners' > 'Full Control'

These have been edited to:
'My Site Visitors' > 'Read'
'My Site Members' > 'Contribute'
'My Site Owners' > 'Full Control'

This change was done when the site was a free standing site.
It has subsequently been associated with a Team (Group).
According to this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/customize-sharepoint-site-permissions
"Permissions for the default SharePoint groups (Owners, Members, and Visitors) for Team sites that are connected to a Microsoft 365 group can't be modified."

I need the permissions of the 'My Site Members' group to be the default 'Edit'

Help? Is there any way this can be done?

    Hi @David

If this group is connected to office 365, as mentioned in the article, we cannot modify its permissions.

    It is a by-design behavior.

In general, we recommend you to create a custom group.

If it is not connected to office 365, then we can change the permissions of this group.
