Hello everyone! I have a problem understanding the differences between each remote action available upon a device enrolled in Intune. The main actions I mostly would like to know how they work are the "Retire", "Fresh Start", "Delete" and the "Wipe" options available. Please, I need an explanation of each of the previously mentioned actions with an example as they will help us manage the devices.

Kindest regards!

@Ahmad Zein, Thanks for posting in Q&A. Intune provides several remote actions to manage devices, including "Retire," "Fresh Start," "Delete," and "Wipe." Here's a brief explanation of each:

Retire: It is used to unenroll device from Intune. It removes managed app data (where applicable), settings, and email profiles that were assigned by using Intune. The device is removed from Intune management. But the removal happens the next time the device checks in and receives the remote Retire action. The device still shows up in Intune until the device checks in.

Delete: Thei action is similar with Retire. But it removes a device from Intune management immediately, not need to wait for device checking in.

Wipe: It restores a device to its factory default settings. The user data is kept if you choose the Retain enrollment state and user account checkbox. Otherwise, all data, apps, and settings are removed. The Microsoft Entra joined and MDM enrollment are still retained. This action is mainly for resetting a device before you give the device to a new user or reseting when a device is lost or stolen.

Fresh Start: Removes pre-installed OEM apps, while resetting the operating system to its default state. This action is useful for repurposing a device.

Hope the above explanation can help you understand the above actions.
