Microsoft likely blocked my public IP

Hello,

when trying to access the Azure Portal at portal.azure.com, but also some APIs, such as the ARM API, my requests get blocked when running from my work public IP address.

When using my private (home) IP address, I can still access both.

I have tried clearing the browser data and cache. It did not help. It can not be a tenant related issue (or CAP) since I am using a clean browser and I get blocked before coming to tenant selection.

Since I have heavily used my work public IP address for security testing of Azure, I am pretty sure it has been blocked by Microsoft.

Please unblock my IP address as soon as possible. Of course I can provide the exact IP address in a more private context.

Hello Enrique Hernandez, please ensure that your work profile is not blocking the access to Azure portal or the ARM APIs. It's common that work networks have IP restrictions, firewall rules, network security groups etc. that typically prohibit/restrict external access. If you're sure that you have eliminated these as possible causes, then, as you have mentioned, it's possible that Microsoft has blocked your work IP address if it detected unusual activity, such as an excessive number of requests, which could be interpreted as a security threat. This is a standard security measure to protect Azure services from potential attacks. To request an unblock of your IP address, please contact Microsoft support directly and they should be able to help you out.

Can you provide me guidance of how exactly to contact Microsoft support? Is there an adequate email address for this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello @Enrique Hernandez,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A.

It appears you are encountering the error message "The request is blocked" when attempting to access the Azure Portal and certain APIs, such as the ARM API, from your work public IP address. However, you are able to access these resources without issue from your home network.

This issue can occur when your work public IP address or network firewall blocks access to Azure Portal URLs. To resolve this issue, you need to configure your firewall to allow access to the Azure Portal URLs. You can find the necessary URLs and documentation for this configuration below. Please verify that these URLs have been added to your firewall's allow list.

Doc: Allow the Azure portal URLs on your firewall or proxy server

Kindly ensure that access to Azure Portal URLs is enabled to resolve this issue.

Regarding your previous question about how to contact Microsoft support:

To raise a support ticket, you can follow the instructions outlined in the document titled "Create an Azure support request".

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

    Hello Raja,

thank you for your answer. As I said, my issue does not have to do with "Blocking portal access" or firewalls, I am absolutely sure about that.

Unfortunately I do not have a support plan on my Azure tenant. Nevertheless I have tried to click myself through the "New support request" option in the Azure Portal but end up in point 3 where it seems I can not keep advancing. Maybe this is because I do not have a support plan?

For the record, the only support I need is Microsoft unblocking my work IP in Azure. It is all I want. I do not need help understanding stuff.

Hope to hear from you soon again.
