Azure resources cost

Question

Hi friends, we have to provide detailed level costing guidelines per resource such as ADF, azure databricks and ADLS, etc. What is the starting point in terms of what is the practical approach to understanding the cost by pricing calculator, we do not know the usage, or what scale of resources, just need to consider basic configurations.

Hi @Anshal ,

it sounds you have no special requirements or sizing details.

This might be challenging for the price calculation of the Azure services.

Basically almost all Azure services are charged by size/performance/time used and some more details.

Without any details the pricing is more or less a "wild guess".

One option might be start small but this might lead to a "surprise" of the real costs.

Thanks for your question.

As a starting point I will recommend:

• Start with the Azure Pricing Calculator and Plan to manage costs for Azure Data Factory for a detailed plan.
• Use the ADF pricing calculator to get an estimate of the cost of running
• During the proof-of-concept phase, you can conduct trial runs using sample datasets to understand the consumption for various ADF meters. Then based on the consumption for the sample dataset, you can project out the consumption for the full dataset and operational schedule.
