EntraID dual state of Microsoft Entra joined and Microsoft Entra hybrid joined

Hi,

Anyone ever came accross this issue? For each Microsoft Entra hybrid joined device entry, we also have a Microsoft Entra joined device entry. I read about devices with a dual state of Microsoft Entra hybrid joined and Microsoft Entra registered but I can't find anything about this type of dual state.

Should they normally merge automatically or shouldn't there be a dual state to start with?

Any idea what could be the cause and how we can fix this?

Best Regards,

Ronny

@Ronny, Thanks for posting in Q&A. If the devices are deployed via Autopilot Hybrid Azure AD joined enrollment method, this is an expected behavior to have two records.

    Hi Crystal,

Thank you for looking into this but I find it strange because our MSFT partner ensured us that this is not normal and that they don't see this with other customers who have the same hybrid setup as we do.

The article is pretty old (2020) and at the end of the comment section, the author said they were looking to get it fixed, so perhaps they fixed it in the meantime? I sure hope so because those double entries are pretty annoying. Hope someone with a hybrid setup can confirm if it's normal or not.
