My laptop is locked with a BitLocker. I need a recovery key to access my laptop again, but I don't have access to my key or I get a message that there is no key for my laptop. How can I solve this without having to reset my laptop? All my documents are only stored on my laptop. This is with a school account from the school where I work

I assume this is a personal device.

If you are using a microsoft account to sign into your laptop then likely your recovery key is stored there. Also when bitlocker was enabled on your device likely it asked you to back it up somewhere. Do you have that stored anywhere for recovery?

Try to locate your recover key in your Microsoft account.

@Van Daele Chiara, Thanks for posting in Q&A. Based as I know, if the recovery key is not able to get, the only method I think is to reset the device.

But if the device is enrolled into Intune, you can check if you can get the BitLocker recovery key from company portal.

Hope the above information can help.
