SharePoint Custom List - New Interface - Edit Grid View Error

We are seeing a strange behaviour when editing in the grid view of a SharePoint list. If users want to create a quick copy of an item, they can select the entry and drag down using the square icon. This duplicates the selected entry. Upon doing so, the added item complains that it is missing values. This doesn't seem to affect the save by existing the grid view. Has this been logged as a bug?

Hi @Robert Sawyer,

"select the entry and drag down using the square icon" is used to move items as per my knowledge. To copy items, users need to select an item and press "ctrl+c", and press "ctrl+v".

By the way, if there are some column types like "date and time", "metadata", "Person or group" and etc. in your list, the functions will not work. This is not a bug but currently not supported by SharePoint in "Edit in grid view" function.

Can you explain what is not supported within the edit in grid view. We have all types of columns in use and never saw a problem with this previously. Has the support for these column types been removed since the new interface has been deployed?

As per my test, column types have internal information within them like "date and time", "metadata", "Person or group" and etc. are all not supported. They cannot be copied. Not sure it is removed by MS or a bug after updating. You can create a service request in M365 admin center to report this to MS. MS experts will help you check.

@AllenXu-MSFT it would seem like the removal of support columns has come from the new Microsoft List update over modern SharePoint lists. This was working fine before, as users have flagged the change. An alternative method has been suggested and a Microsoft ticket has been raised.
