I want to know if there is any script that change device name of Intune portal in a bulk

@San TCI, Thanks for posting in Q&A. In Intune portal, we can bulk rename device directly, this feature uses the same rules as renaming a single device. You can try the name format like ABC-{{serialnumber}}

But the above method will only change the device name for 100 devices and I he 1500 devices in my organization
so Is there any way to do it using powershell???

@San TCI, Thanks for the reply. Yes, for graph request, it will have amount limit.

If the devices are windows devices, another method I can think is to deploy a PowerShell script from Intune to the device to change its name. Here is an example to uses its serial number as its device name.

$SerialNumber = (Get-WmiObject -class win32_bios).SerialNumber $computer = "BJ-$SerialNumber" Rename-Computer -NewName $computer -Force

@San TCI, Thanks for the reply. For PowerShell script, it can deploy not just Microsoft Entra joined device. But also work on the following types of devices.

For rename device action. It can work on the following types of devices.

@San TCI, You can change one command in the script with the following format.

$Device = Get-MgDeviceManagementManagedDevice | ? {$_.SerialNumber -like '5661'}

Meanwhile, for the last command, please ensure the devicename is the name you want to change.

From picture above I don't recognize you would be running my script. Also, run it in ISE or one line by line in console, don't paste it all at once. It will not work.

Changing device name problem.
Although the option is listed in Microsoft Learn, regarding Intune Bulk Actions, the name variable {rand:x}} causes errors (Windows, iOS and Android).
