How to automatically save videos (Teams Meetings, Livestreams) to other storage when an event or meeting ends?

My company has a policy to block all access to onedrive + sharepoint from the external network. I have set up the Access control Network location policy in Sharepoint Admin to only allow internal IPs to access, but this is affecting the data shared on Teams and Viva Engage. Users cannot view videos when on the external network. Previously, Stream classic had its own storage area. Currently, all Stream videos must be transferred to sharepoint or onedrive. I am trying to do everything possible to continue using Team and Viva Engage normally while still ensuring the company's policy. The problem I am having is that videos after the end of a meeting or live event are being automatically stored in onedrive or sharepoint. Is there a way to set up to move the location of these videos to a place that is not affected by the policy? I want to move the video storage location to another location (for example, move to another tenant's onedrive) but still ensure inline video playback when it is posted to viva engage or Teams.

    Hi @Da HoVan

In Microsoft Teams, meeting recordings are automatically saved to the organizer's OneDrive or SharePoint. Recordings of private meetings are saved to the organizer's OneDrive, while recordings of channel meetings are saved to the corresponding SharePoint folder.

The problem you are facing is indeed complicated, so I can only provide you with some possible suggestions:

    • Manually migrate videos: You can manually download the video from OneDrive or SharePoint to the local after the meeting or live event ends, and then upload it to the OneDrive or other storage location of another tenant. This ensures that the video is not restricted by the company's network location policy.
    • Use tool migration: Create a Power Automate process to automatically move the file to the specified storage location after the meeting recording is completed. Or use a third-party migration tool to automatically help you migrate files from one OneDrive tenant to another.

    Adjust access policies

    • Configure conditional access policies: Configure conditional access policies in Microsoft Entra ID to allow specific applications (such as Teams and Viva Engage) to access from external networks. This is achieved by creating application-based conditional access policies.
    • Use Microsoft 365 Groups: Make sure your Viva Engage community is connected to a Microsoft 365 Group so you can take advantage of Microsoft 365 services like SharePoint and OneDrive. This will allow you to share data across Teams and Viva Engage without being restricted by network location policies.
    • Set up internal and external networks: In Viva Engage, you can set up internal and external networks. Internal networks are limited to users within your organization, while external networks can be open to external users. Make sure your Viva Engage network is configured correctly to allow external access if needed.
