Incorrect Statement in AZ-900 Training Module

I was reviewing the "Describe the benefits and use of cloud services" module on the Microsoft Learn platform, specifically the section on Security and Governance in cloud services. I noticed an incorrect statement in the paragraph that reads:

"Infrastructure as a service provides you with physical resources but lets you manage the operating systems and installed software, including patches and maintenance."

This is misleading, as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) does not provide physical resources directly to the customer. Instead, IaaS offers virtualized resources, such as virtual machines, storage, and networking, which run on the provider's physical infrastructure.

This question is related to the following Learning Module

    Hi Aniket Panchal,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

We apologize if this has created confusion over IaaS that offers physical resources. Maybe the question comes from a misunderstanding over virtualization.

IaaS providers, such as Azure, can provide virtual machines, but they are made from physical servers.

The offering of IaaS does not give you direct access to the physical hardware, which includes servers in your data center. It gives you virtualized resources, such as virtual machines, networks, and storage, hosted on top of a cloud provider's physical infrastructure. You get virtual access to compute power, storage, and networking, but they manage and own the actual hardware in their data centers.

With IaaS, you have complete control over operating systems, applications, and other software running on these virtualized resources. You can decide on the security settings, software patches, and maintenance according to your needs. This level of control is ideal if one needs flexibility and wants to manage their own IT environment while benefiting from the cloud provider's physical infrastructure and scalability.

I hope this information will be helpful to you. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you need further assistance.
